Brett Myers is a Country Music Singer Now(?)

So, I’m reading about how Manny Machado and Bryce Harper apparently hate us now, fretting like a normal Philadelphia sports fan. Then, I stumble across a tweet on the subject of getting spurned by the stars that was eyebrow raising to say the least. At first, it seemed like a disgruntled fan hiding behind a computer (you know the type). But this was not just a disgruntled fan, it was BRETT MYERS, known enemy of CC Sabathia and former Phillies pitcher.

I never really pay attention to accounts with American Flags in their Twitter handle because most times it’s either a racist or a bot (or both). Usually if you see the name (@BackWoodRebel39) and double American flag emojis, you think this is an account who strictly replies to Donald Trump’s tweets and nothing else. But, turns out this really is Brett Myers account dedicated to his new career: country music. No blue check mark, just down country tunes.

Brett Myers makes music you would hear at a country concert inside Victory Beer Hall at Xfinity.

Am I late to this? Did the world know Brett Myers had gone from starting pitcher to relief pitcher, back to starting pitcher and now finally to “Blackwood Rebel”, the country singer? For God sake, they did about 72 “Remembering the ‘08 Phillies” tributes in the past few years, not once do I remember this new career for Myers’ being a topic of interest.

Finding out Brett Myers is a country music singer is like coming home and finding your favorite meal already on the table. You didn’t expect it, but now you need it and want to consume a lot of it.

“It’s been too long, living this break up song”. Catchy.
