Jimmy Butler Wants You to Know He Works Harder Than Everyone, Even His Former Sixers Teammates
Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Jimmy Butler is doing interviews where he slights the work ethic of his (former) teammates.
Butler sat down with Vincent Goodwill for his 843rd interview since joining the Miami Heat this summer.
The sneak preview to the article says it all:
The @YahooSports interview with Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is live. He talks about choosing Miami and if he believed everybody in Philadelphia had a common goal of winning an NBA title. Here’s a hint: No. https://t.co/323tnBwv6s pic.twitter.com/vPbFLmyIHC

In fairness, read the entirety of the interview. Butler’s sentiment is not as critical as it seems and how it will be portrayed. And yes, I think he does have a point!
That buzzer beater in Toronto last season should have created a newfound motivation that some (younger) players may not have had. Plus, the lack of stability and so many impending free agents had a lot of guys playing for their next contract. Not necessarily just to win.
But, it has to be so exhausting to be Jimmy’s teammate and constantly hear from Jimmy about how hard Jimmy works. We get it. You work out early in the morning. And so far, it hasn’t translated into any successful results of note. Jimmy Butler, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid have all made it to the same exact put in the playoffs…and not a step further.
If I’m Jimmy Butler, I think you have to cool it on this “I work harder than everyone” act. Because if you’re working as hard as you claim, then you go back to your former team and lose by 40, something starts to smell fishy. If the Heat don’t keep winning, there’s one person getting all the blame. If you’re pointing your finger at yourself to showcase who’s working the hardest, ALL the fingers are getting pointed at you if things go south on South Beach.
