Rest In Peace Kobe

As I sit here watching Kobe highlights on loop, still in shock of the awful news of Kobe and his daughter Gianna’s passing from this afternoon I wanted to get a few words out there. There are very few transcending athletes in the world and Kobe Bryant was one of them. He meant so much to so many people and to the game of basketball. Coming from a Philadelphia perspective Kobe was one of ours. Being a local kid coming out of Lower Merion on top of always rockin green. (if you haven’t seen it go check out the video of Kobe holding his daughter celebrating the Eagles Super Bowl), I’ve always thought of Kobe as a Philly guy. I’m sure every Philly fan would have loved to see Kobe in a Sixers jersey playing alongside of AI.

It truly is hard to believe that Kobe is gone, to me he always felt like a guy who would be around forever growing the game. The things he was doing to grow the women’s game for his daughters were truly admirable. Kobe’s daughter Gianna had a goal of playing in the WNBA and carrying on the Bryant legacy. Today is one of the saddest days I’ve ever been apart of. Life is truly precious and can be taken away from anyone at any moment. Hug your loved ones a little longer tonight and let’s learn to not let the small things get in the way of living. From Philadelphia, Kobe, you will be remembered forever.
