Flyers Trade Cutter Gauthier
Well this was a bombshell that was dropped about two minutes after puck drop in the Flyers vs Penguins game tonight.
I saw this on Instagram first and thought we got Drysdale for a 2nd round pick. Then I did a double take an saw that it was in exchange for Cutter Gauthier and out loud said what the actual f**k.
He was just named the top player at the World Junior tournament and was our second top prospect behind Matvei Michkov.
After seeing this and going back to him not showing up to development camp the move makes sense. I guess Cutter is too soft and didn’t want to play in the Philadelphia market. Guess he knows he wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure of having to play well night in and night out.
Acquiring Jamie Drysdale is pretty damn good though. He can step in right now and help the defense which means likely someone on the blue line will be moved. Also getting a 2nd round pick continues to help with the rebuild.
We can now turn all the excitement/love we showed for Gauthier into hatred for the rest of his career. Hopefully this isn’t something that really comes back to bite us in the ass but we’re Philadelphia so I’m sure he’ll score an overtime game winner in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against us.
