Previewing the Eagles First Divisional “Rival” Matchup of the Year
The first of six division games this season takes place this Sunday for the Eagles at home against the Washington Commanders. Who, I thought might be a tough match up considering their performance in the first two weeks, but then they got shit-pumped by the Bills. I still expect their defensive line to be formidable but their offense was borderline non-existent against Buffalo.
If the Eagles offense has figured itself out like they seemed to have, they should be able to put up points against the Commies. Even with the flu, Jalen Hurts had a decent game on MNF, aside from a pair of interceptions. A.J. Brown got his wish and quietly went off against the Buccs defense. You’d expect the same output this week and keep the hot hand going.
As usual, the defense did their job against the Buccs and it’ll figure to be the same this weekend. The Eagles have, arguably, the best defensive line in football. The star of that group, so far, is rookie Jalen Carter who is leading the league in pressures with 15. Sam Howell threw 4 interceptions against the Bills, it’s tough to think he’ll do that on Sunday. But it’s realistic to think they’ll have over 5 sacks instead, giving him zero time to throw. He’ll be seeing Bulldogs in his nightmares for some time.
All in all, I think the Birds win handily. If everyone is (relatively) healthy, I see this being a 3 score win, something around 28-7.
Dolphins/Bills O 53.5, Bengals ML, Browns -1.5, Bears/Broncos U 46.5
