Morgan Frost Signs New Deal
As we get closer to the start of training camp the only thing on most Flyers fans mind has been when is Morgan Frost going to sign. Well, we finally got the news we all have been hoping for.
As of last night, Morgan Frost and the Flyers have agreed on a new two year deal.
Hearing one of the remaining RFAs, Philadelphia’s Morgan Frost, is closing in on an extension with the Flyers. Sounds like 2 years, slightly above $2M-ish AAV.

The hopefully last domino to fall on what has been a very successful first off-season for new GM Danny Briere. Frost and the Flyers have a new two year deal in place for the 24 year old coming off his best season so far. This two year deal will give Frost the chance to prove his worth and continue to grow under Torts.
What has been an up and down start to his career, last season we started to see more consistency out of the young forward. Suiting up in 81 of the Flyers 82 games providing 19 goals and 27 assist for 46 points. Sure, we would have loved to see more production but most importantly he was able to stay healthy throughout the year and showed signs of improvement as the year went on.
Frost ended up being one of the few players that seemed to end the year in the good graces of head coach John Tortorella. Getting another full training camp under his belt and not having the contract situation hanging over him, we are poised to see the best version of Morgan Frost.
These next two seasons will be huge for Frost as the organization will be looking to him to be one of the key pieces going forward after the rebuild is complete. Having Frost develop into a above average top 6 forward would be huge for the Flyers.
With guys like Cutter Gauthier, Matvei Michkov, Tyson Foerster coming through the system Frost will have a chance to be a key factor in how the next few years of Flyers hockey goes. If he can be a guy who can put up 25+ goals a year and add in 40-50 assist the Flyers could have one of the best top 6 in the NHL in just a few short years.
Hopefully, this upcoming season with the likes of Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson coming back into the fold Frost will have even more opportunities to showcase his skills. Whether he ends up along side those two guys or with Joel Farabee, Travis Konecny, or Owen Tippett there will be no shortage of opportunity for Frost to put up some big numbers.
This deal isn’t bad for either side as the Flyers didn’t have to break the bank Frost gets to show just how much he’s worth for when the salary cap goes up.
The potential for Frost is there and he has been one of the guys we have had high hopes for over the last few years. These next two seasons we could finally be getting the version of Morgan Frost we were expecting from the start. It’s a two year make or break deal for him and I have confidence we are going to see the true potential of Morgan Forst over these next two seasons.
Training camp starts for the Flyers on Thursday, September 21st in Voorhees.
