Super Bowl 57 Preview
The Eagles are on the cusp of winning the second Super Bowl is franchise history. This season has been nothing but spectacular for the Birds as they are set to face their toughest test yet.
Both the Eagles and the Chiefs ended the season as the #1 seed. While the Eagles won both of their playoff games handily, the Chiefs played two tight games including a thriller against the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.
I like the Eagles chances in this game against Andy Reid and the Chiefs. They’re better in every position group besides QB.
Starting with each teams respective lines, we’ve known all year the Eagles offensive line is the most dominant group of guys in the league this season. With 3 Pro Bowlers on the line (Landon Dickerson, Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson) there’s not a weak spot in this line. On the flip side, Chris Jones (15.5 sacks) and Frank Clark are game wreckers. The way the Eagles O-line made Nick Bosa a non-factor would lead me to believe Jalen will hopefully have a clean pocket most of the game.
Onto the Eagles defense. You can’t give that squad their flowers without putting the spotlight on Haason Reddick. He’s been an absolute monster all year long. Racking up 16 sacks in the regular season and adding 3.5 in the postseason, he’s had a DPOY season. You add Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, and Jordan Davis, it becomes a frantic chore for KC to protect an injured Patrick Mahomes all game.
Speaking of Mahomes, the Chiefs offense will struggle without Mecole Hardman in this game. He’ll have to rely on Travis Kelce and his running backs, which could open up the Eagles defense to blitzing in man coverage.
It’s normal to be anxious for this game but I really do believe the Eagles win by double digits. My final prediction is 28-14 Eagles. I’ll see my fellow North East people at Cottman Frankford.
Go Birds!
