The Flyers Are Now Stanley Cup Champions
That’s how this works right? When you beat the defending Champs you become the new Champions. No?
Well that’s what I am going with here. Last night our Philadelphia Flyers took down the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche.
Granted the Avs were missing quite a few of their starters as well as losing Nathan Mackinnon during the first period. Regardless, the Flyers looked pretty damn good last night.
They put 5 goals past Alexander Georgiev as they secured a 5-3 win. It was actually 4-1 until about 3 minutes left in the game when the Avs scored to quick ones to make it 4-3.
Travis Konecny would put home the empty netter to secure the Flyers win.
Over the last few games the Flyers effort has really been there other than maybe the game against Tampa where they were completely outplayed.
It’s great to see them playing with a bunch of effort it really is. That’s the one thing you want to see from a rebuilding team. My worry is they start winning too many games and Chuck Fletcher sticks around.
It’d be nice to see them end the homestand with another win against the Capitals on Wednesday but after that I wouldn’t mind another long losing streak if it leads to the demise of Chuck Fletcher.
I love the Flyers, I really do. But I am actively rooting for a losing streak because of how much I hate Chuck Fletcher. If you really think he is the guy to turn this team around you are fucking insane.
Root for the team to show some fight but if you want this team back as a true contender you should be rooting for them to lose so we get some changes in the front office.
