Couturier Likely To Miss Season

Well…At this point nothing should really surprise you as a Flyers fan. If you were anything like me and tried talking yourself back into this team as training camp is just about to get underway well, stop right now.

As you can see from the tweet above, Anthony SanFilippo from Crossing Broad is reporting that Coots is likely done for the year with a herniated disc in his back. Coots suffered the injury during strength and condition training last week. He missed most of last season due to another back injury that required surgery.

This is very much a sign of how this season is going to go I can already tell. Honestly now I can fully be out on this team knowing damn well without Coots this team is going nowhere. Not that they were really going anywhere with him in the lineup but at least we knew they’d be a little bit better.

Is there anyway the Flyers can just withdraw from this season? Like maybe we just take the year off let everyone get healthy, give us the first overall pick so we can draft Bedard and then just be ready to go for 23-24 season. That would be ideal in my opinion.

I’m going to love to see how Chuck Fletcher handles this situation. I’m just assuming he’s already made the call to Jori Lehtera to try and see if he wants to be the number one center this year.

Fletcher did already make a couple of moves by inviting Artem Anisimov to training camp on a PTO. He’s 34 and played in the KHL last year. So I fully expect he makes the team averages about 22 minutes a night and puts up a whopping 20 points in 82 games as the Flyers top line center.

Just kill me now. Go Birds.
