The Flyers Are Starting To Get Healthy…At Least We Can Celebrate That!
For the first time since before the All Star break the Philadelphia Flyers picked up a win the other day against the Washington Capitals. It was a tight checking 2-1 win that they somehow managed to hang on to get thanks to some late shot blocking by Patrick Brown and some great goaltending from Carter Hart.
While there hasn’t been all that much to celebrate during this season it’s still nice to see them get a win. Honestly, they’ve been playing much better as a team of late and we’d probably be talking about it more had they not looked as bad as they have at some points during the year. They aim for their second straight win tonight as they face off against one of the best players in the world in Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. Things might start looking up for the boys in orange and black as they are starting to get some good news on the injury front.
Don’t focus on the first part of the Tweet that has Brassard not skating at morning skate today he will be in the lineup tonight. More importantly the second part of the Tweet is in regards to Kevin Hayes who has missed a majority of the season due to injury. It looks like he is getting closer to returning to the lineup and could possibly be in as early as Saturday. Hayes being in the lineup is great news for the team if he is actually fully healthy. If anything it’ll be something to look forward to in a season that hasn’t had many positive things to go off of. I know there is a lot of people that are going to say he should be shut down for the season so that the team can fully embrace the tank. I am one of those people but I have also come to accept that until Comcast sells the team they are never going to fully commit to a rebuild.
On top of Kevin Hayes coming back it also appears that Wade Allison is closer to being 100% and even Nate Thompson is on his way back towards playing in games again. There is some bad news though which has been expected for a little while now since he has only played in 4 games this year but, Ryan Ellis will most likely officially be shut down for the year in the near future. It should’ve been announced weeks ago but it’s the Flyers so why do something that makes sense.
Here’s to hoping this team gives us a few more things to cheer about as the year starts coming to a close.
