Short-Handed Flyers Ready For Tough Challenge Against Bruins On Sunday
When the Philadelphia Flyers face off against the Boston Bruins Sunday, it will be their fifth meeting already this season. So far, the previous four meetings haven’t been very favorable to the Flyers.
Entering Sunday’s matchup, the Flyers are 0-2-2 against the Bruins this season. But, the record doesn’t tell the exact story of the four games.
“Other than the one game, the games have been very competitive & hard fought,” Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault said. “It comes down to, at the end of the game, can you make a defensive play.. can you make an offensive play.. are you getting that save.. They are always tough games & it’s gonna be another tough one on Sunday.”
Sunday’s matchup will be no different than the games Alain Vigneault referenced. Especially with a healthy Bruins team & a shorthanded Flyers team.
Vigneault added “I expect Boston to play extremely well, I expect us to play extremely well & extremely hard as well; We know Boston is real good team. They are fully healthy. We are in a little different situation. But, we are next man up & no excuses.”
The first thing the Flyers must do better at on Sunday is stopping the Bruins top line. A line that they know can control a game & take over a game.
“They come hard. Their top line has a lot of skill,” Flyers goalie Carter Hart said. “We just have to compete hard against them. Try & limit their chances. Just have to out-work them.”
One Flyer who knows the Bruins top line well is Sean Couturier. Who, on Sunday, will be tasked once again with trying to stop them.
“Has been of the best lines in the NHL for quite a while now,” Flyers forward Sean Couturier said. “They are just tough to play against. They are a big challenge.”
Besides the Bruins top line, the team as a whole is a big challenge. Something that will be a tough task for the shorthanded Flyers on Sunday.
Couturier added “they obviously have some good goal-tending I think as well. All together, they are tough to play against.”
Even being shorthanded & 2-points on the line, the Flyers will be apart of something they will never forget. Something that will get them back to their roots. But, also be a different experience than the usual outdoor games.
“Obviously will be a little different feeling (no fans),” Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault said. “I expect our guys to go out there, enjoy the game, & play hard.”
