Here Are Some Notable Reactions to the Carson Wentz Trade
The Carson Wentz Era is finally over. After days upon days of trade rumors and speculation the Eagles finally shipped Wentz to the only team that really wanted him. The Indianapolis Colts were the one team in the NFL who were a solid veteran quarterback away from becoming Super Bowl contenders. That along with Wentz’s history with Colts head coach Frank Reich made Indianapolis the ideal place for an attempt at a career revival. And now we sit back and wait and see how history will view this historic trade in Philadelphia Eagles history.
The Eagles and Wentz have been making national sports headlines, mostly negative, for their once-strong foundation falling apart in a flash. Now that the trade has finally happen a lot of local and national figures have something to say about it. Here are some notable reactions to the Colts acquiring Wentz from the Eagles.
The Schefty tweet that started it all
Philadelphia has agreed to trade Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first, league sources tell @mortreport and me.

Former Eagle Torrey Smith has prophesized that Wentz is going to ball as a Colt next year. Though Smith only played with Wentz during his peak year of 2017. This tweet also compelled Trey Wingo to respond with Ryan Howard taking notes.
And what does the boss of Philly Fan Life and WIP producer have to say?
The poor ducks of Indianapolis.

But yeah, Howie Roseman knew exactly how to get a great return and fair market value. Donkey GM. Good luck to Carson Wentz. https://t.co/pbVRHneD0v

Eytan Shander with the usual Twitter gold
Drafting a QB at 6, after drafting a QB in the 2nd round last year, after signing another QB to a monster deal… then trading him. Glad to see we are back to insanity in Philly! #EaglesTwitter

James Seltzer with a sentimental response
I’m grateful for the role Carson Wentz played in the Eagles winning a Super Bowl. I’m also happy this is over and he’s gone.

Field Yates with the larger context
And with the trade of Carson Wentz, there will now not be a single QB drafted in the first round from 2009-2016 that is still with his original team.
0 out of 22 total.

The King with his take
Obviously this is the best #Eagles could do in trading Carson Wentz. It was a pipe dream to think they could get multiple 1st round value. https://t.co/bTf7W209Bk

Small price to pay for 13 games of MVP football
The Eagles spent five draft picks to acquire Carson Wentz in 2016. They gave him a $128M contract 20 months ago.
They're now taking on a cap hit in excess $33M to essentially get out of the contract and get a 2021 3rd-round pick and a 2022 2nd or 1st-rd pick.

– Said roster is now $50 million over the salary cap
