Insider Believes Eagles Will Trade Carson Wentz “In Coming Days”
If someone told you in 2016 that the Philadelphia Eagles would trade away Carson Wentz in 5-years time, would you have believed them?
After trading up to #2 overall in 2016, the Eagles drafted Carson Wentz. A pick that the Eagles thought they made for someone who they thought would be the face of their franchise for the next 15-years.
However, after 5-years in Philadelphia, it seems Carson Wentz’s time with the Eagles has ended. A divorce that seemed inconceivable just a year ago.
According to ESPNs Adam Schefter, the Eagles are expected to trade Carson Wentz in the coming days. It could happen as early as this week.
Eagles are expected to trade Carson Wentz in the coming days in what would be the latest blockbuster QB deal to rock the NFL, sources tell @mortreport and me. The most pertinent questions now become where, when and for what. But it could happen as early as this week.

But, Schefter wasn’t the only reporter to say a deal is close.
Yesterday, according to Les Bowen of The Inquirer, a source told him “a Wentz trade is close.” Something that led to multiple more reports surfacing on where Wentz could be traded too.
I've talked to an NFL source, not w/the Eagles, who hears a Wentz trade is close. That isn't first-hand information. I do feel that the longer we go without Wentz saying something like "I'm happy to be an Eagle and excited about playing for Nick Sirianni," the closer we get…

After Les Bowen’s report, two teams surfaced as a possible landing spot for Carson Wentz. Both teams with former coaches of Wentz in Philadelphia. The two teams that surfaced were the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. With according to one report, with the Bears having the best offer on the table.
Asking Price
According to multiple reports, the Eagles have set a high asking price for Carson Wentz. The Eagles front office is looking for a deal similar to that of which sent Matthew Stafford to the LA Rams for Jared Goff, two future 1st round picks, & a 2021 3rd round pick.
The rumored asking price the Eagles are looking for is two 1st round picks. However, other reports have contradicted the asking price with the Eagles willing to take a player back as well.
Any deal made with Carson Wentz will leave the Eagles with a pricey dead-cap hit. It would only be minimized if Wentz & his new team are willing to restructure.
If a team is willing to work with the Eagles with Wentz’s money, the asking price could come down.
Possible Trades
With the Chicago Bears & the Indianapolis Colts being the two rumored teams with the best offers at the moment, what could a potential deal look like?
If the Eagles trade Wentz to Chicago, it should net them their best package. Bears GM Ryan Pace hasn’t been afraid to spend on a quarterback in the past.
With the Bears acquiring Wentz & his contract, could Chicago force the Eagles to take on a high salary guy in return? Someone like DE Robert Quinn, who extremely underperformed in year 1 of his 5-year $54M contract, or maybe former Eagle QB Nick Foles, who Pace acquired in a trade last season after Foles bad year in Jacksonville in 2019.
CHI – Carson Wentz
PHI – 2021 1st round pick (#20), conditional 2022 1st/2nd round pick (condition on how Wentz plays), & QB Nick Foles
If the Eagles trade Wentz to Indianapolis, it would net them a decent package. But, with the Colts having ~$65M in cap space, they can afford to take on Wentz’s full deal. Which means the Eagles would want as close to their asking price as possible.
With the Colts acquiring Wentz, maybe former Colts assistants, HC Nick Sirianni or DC Jonathan Gannon, could select a player they like instead of a second 1st round pick. Someone like CB Kenny Moore, who DC Jonathan Gannon played a big part in his development, or maybe WR Zach Pascal, who was a staple in HC Nick Sirianni offense with the Colts.
IND – Carson Wentz
PHI – 2021 2nd round pick (#54), 2022 1st round pick, & CB Kenny Moore
