Meet Your 2020-2021 Philadelphia Flyers
The NHL season has arrived & your 2020-2021 Philadelphia Flyers roster has been finalized. Its final structure doesn’t look too different from the Flyers team last season.
The 2020-2021 Philadelphia Flyers will feature 19-players from last years team. A team that finished 41-21-7, good enough for 2nd in the Metro Division, & their first playoff series win in eight seasons.
After missing the full 2019-2020 season, Nolan Patrick is one of the two newcomers to the Flyers lineup. The other being free agent signee Erik Gustafsson, who signed a 1-year $3M deal this offseason.
Flyers top prospect, Morgan Frost, also made the roster. Not in the opening night lineup, Frost will be the Flyers 13th forward to start the season.
Frost’s teammate in Lehigh Valley last season, Mark Friedman, also made the jump to the big club. Friedman will be the Flyers 8th defenseman behind Shayne Gostisbehere.
After combining for 41-wins last season, the Flyers goal-tending duo, Carter Hart & Brian Elliott, will also be back.

Captain & Alternative Captains
Claude Giroux will enter his 9th season as the Flyers captain. Since becoming the captain in 2012, the Flyers have had a .500 or above record in every season with Giroux as captain. Making the playoffs in four out of the eight seasons.
Sean Couturier will join Giroux as a full-time captain. Couturier will be an alternative captain for every game for Flyers. It will be Couturier’s 2nd season as full-time captain for the Flyers.
Ivan Provorov, Kevin Hayes, & Jake Voracek will join Couturier as part-time alternative captains. Provorov will be the Flyers 3rd captain for all home games. It is Provorov’s 1st season being a Flyers captain. Hayes & Voracek will be the Flyers 3rd captain for road games. Splitting the games evenly, 14-each, between the two. It is Hayes’s 2nd season & Voracek’s 2nd season being a Flyers captain.
Taxi Squad
Due to the Covid pandemic, the NHL is allowing teams to carry six extra players incase of issues that present themselves due to covid. These players do not count against a teams salary cap. But, can travel, practice with the team, & be recalled / play if needed if covid causes a player to not play.
