Scott Hartnell Returns To Flyers, This Time In The Broadcast Booth

Former Philadelphia Flyers winger, Scott Hartnell, is back with the orange & black. Well, this time behind the glass.

After Chris Therien left NBCSports Philadelphia in December, a spot on the Flyers pre-game & post-game desk was open. That spot will now be filled by the former Flyers fan favorite.

Since retiring following the 2018 season, Hartnell has worked part-time with the NHL Network as an analyst. Even jumping on the NBCSports Philadelphia broadcast from time to time.

Now, Hartnell will talk the orange & black full-time starting this season.

In 7-seasons in Philadelphia, Hartnell played in 517-games, scored 157-goals & 169-assists, & had some of the Flyers fans greatest moments over the past two decades. Hartnell Down, Hulk Hogan, “Sedin-Triplets”, just to name a few.

Re-Amped Pre-Game/Post-Game Show?

Scott Hartnell wasn’t the only change NBCSports Philadelphia made to the Flyers broadcast. With NBCSports Philadelphia moving away from their field/court/rink reporters, Taryn Hatcher is expected to move to the desk & co-host with Hartnell.

Hatcher, who joined NBCSports Philadelphia in 2018, got her first taste of the pre-game show this season. During the Flyers playoff run, Hatcher & Al Morganti hosted a video pre-game show to all Flyers Pre-Game Broadcasts.

Morganti, Hatcher’s co-host from the video pre-game show, will join Hatcher & Hartnell as a part-time analyst for Flyers pre-game & post-game coverage.

Emmer Out

With Taryn Hatcher moving from the ice to the desk, NBCSports is unfortunately letting go Katie Emmer.

Emmer, who joined NBCSports Philadelphia in 2019, took the place of former NBCSports Philadelphia Flyers reporter John Boruk.

According to Crossing Broad, Emmer was a seasonal employee & did not operate under a full-time on-air talent contract.
