Has Doug Pederson Checked Out?

While watching the absolute dreck that was the Eagles offensive performance against the Seahawks on Monday Night Football, a thought popped into my head that even a year ago would have seemed outrageous.

Has Doug Pederson checked out as coach of the Eagles?

If it wasn’t clear before, it became obviously clear on MNF that Doug doesn’t really seem to care anymore.  The gameplan is stale.  His personnel packages do not seem to make any sense.  Worst of all, he has no idea how to use the teams second round pick that he touted so much and seemed to be so happy when he was drafted.

The Jalen Hurts conundrum perfectly shows how Doug has lost any touch he once had.  All that Hurts does is go out there and runs the same play over and over again.  It is always a zone read. No play action off of it.  No fakes.  Nothing.  Defenses know whats coming once he is out there and stop it every time.

Looking at the game against Seattle, Doug rolled out 13 personnel.  That’s 3 tight ends and 1 back.  Where in the world did that come from?  There isn’t any consistency from him.  Every week it seems to be something new that he just seems to be throwing at the wall and hoping something works out.  Why not work on a few things over and over again to try and make things better instead of changing things every week?

His press conferences are even worse.  He stumbles over himself, is short with the media, and seems to get annoyed much easier now.  He is starting to look defeated.  He sounds beaten down and the only way out for him to might go elsewhere.

It was crazy to think about a short while ago, but it looks like the only coach to bring the Eagles a Super Bowl might be on his way out the door, and I don’t think he would have any problem with that.
