Are Changes Coming To Eagles Coaching Staff?

The Philadelphia Eagles season has not gone to plan. Some would even say as close to plan. But, there are some reasons why.

With injuries, poor judgment, & just bad organizational decisions, the Eagles once promising season is now on the brink of complete disaster. Something that could lead to changes.

Now, many want those changes to happen with some players. The biggest name being Carson Wentz. But, could a coach be the first to go?

According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie skipped last weeks game in Cleveland out of frustration.

Now, this doesn’t seem like a big issue on the surface. Multiple reasons could be given to why Lurie did not travel to Cleveland for the game. Including the one an Eagles spokesperson gave to the Inquirer…

“Mr Lurie missed the game out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic and wanting to be extra cautious traveling around Thanksgiving.”

But, the report did not stop there. The report also went on to say that Lurie has left practices this season “out of disgust.” Which raises the question, who is Lurie more mad at? The players or his head coach?

Again, both could be in question. Lurie could be disgusted at the way the players are practicing as well as Lurie could be mad at the way Doug Pederson is running practices. But, for Jeffrey Lurie to miss a game, something that has rarely happened, some say maybe only a couple times before, it seems Lurie is disgusted more with Pederson than the players.

For the owner of your franchise to not just walk out of practices but also not show up to a game signals a clear message that he is not happy with the product on the field. A product that falls not on the players, but solely on the coaches that coach them.

If Lurie didn’t miss last weeks game, it would be different. Lurie walking out of practices could be seen as seeing something he didn’t like or just disgusted at players being lazy. But, for Lurie to miss a game, it sends a clear message he didn’t believe at all the Eagles had a chance to win in Cleveland. Something that falls directly on the coaches not being prepared for the game. Which goes back to a possible reason why Lurie could have left practices disgusted.

One thing that hasn’t changed for the Eagles is their predictability. Not a predictability for a trick play or two a game, but an offense that abandons the run & keeps the QB in the pocket on 99.99% of pass plays.

Now, two changes could be made. The Eagles could bench Carson Wentz & see what Jalen Hurts can do – or – the Eagles could fire Doug Pederson & see if a new coach can fix the issues Pederson can’t with Wentz.

The Eagles need a change & Jeffrey Lurie missing last weeks game is a clear signal one will be made soon if things don’t improve.
