Eagles Pay Full Price On Black Friday Due To Season Ending Injury

When Philadelphia Eagles starting right guard, Brandon Brooks, tore his achilles in the lead-up to training camp, a new right guard was needed. But, instead of getting one, the Eagles chose to replace him with a familiar face.

With many free agent options available, including some in house candidates as well, the Eagles brought back Jason Peters to play right guard. The 10-year Eagles veteran was brought back to learn a new position on the Eagles line.

However, after a season-ending injury to starting left tackle Andre Dillard, things got ugly.

The Eagles now needed a replacement for Dillard. However, instead of signing someone or giving in-house candidate Jordan Mailata a chance, the Eagles asked Jason Peters to move to his original left tackle spot. But, this is where it got ugly.

Instead of just moving to left tackle and helping the team, Jason Peters demanded more money to be added to his recently signed 1-year deal to move from right guard to left tackle. An ask that was a shock to the whole city of Philadelphia.

After 10-years in Eagle green, Jason Peters was now holding the team ransom. Something that did not sit well with almost everyone in Philadelphia.

But, the Eagles gave in & gave Peters a raise to move to his original position on the Eagles offense line. Then, just three weeks into his ransom held season, that raise went to waste.

After the Eagles 23-23 tie against the Bengals, Jason Peters went to IR with a toe injury. The injury would keep Peters out for the next 4 weeks & give Jordan Mailata the shot he deserved during training camp to replace Dillard.

In those 4-weeks, Mailata proved he was worthy enough to start at left tackle for the Eagles even when Jason Peters returned from injury. However, in true Eagles fashion, that was just not going to happen.

Unfortunately for Mailata, the moment Peters was cleared, Doug Pederson put him right back as the starter at left tackle. A move that, now 4-weeks later, is finally being fixed because of yet another injury.

After struggling against the Giants & Browns, Doug Pederson still made it clear Peters was his starting left tackle. But, today, that changed.

Today, almost 15 weeks after Peters moved to left tackle, Peters is now back at the position he was signed to play. A move that was not because of Doug Pederson finally giving in. But, at the cost of starting right tackle Lane Johnson.

Lane Johnson announced today his season was over due to an ankle injury. An injury that Johnson has been trying to play through all season after a failed surgery in August.

In a season that just wont seem to get any better for the Eagles, now is back to square one. After entering training camp with a projected line of Dillard-Seumalo-Kelce-Peters-Johnson, the Eagles will finally use the interior of the line for the first time in week 12.

So, after being held ransom, injuries to everyone on the line except Kelce & Mailata, & a season ending injury to their right tackle, Jason Peters is finally at the position the Eagles signed him to play.

Normally “Black Friday” is known for its savings. But, this “Black Friday” the Eagles paid full price for an over-aged, over-priced right guard who has ruined every high praise he has gained over his 10-year career in Philadelphia with his actions this year.
