Sixers President Daryl Morey Is The Villain Philadelphia Needed

When the Philadelphia Sixers needed a head coach, one fell right into their laps. When former Houston Rockets President Daryl Morey became available, the Sixers got another gift.

In just three weeks as the Sixers President, Daryl Morey has already left his mark. He has been a wizard that has the team completely transformed with the moves made on draft day.

On draft day, Morey wasted no time to shed money & rebrand the Sixers into a team around their two young stars, Ben Simmons & Joel Embiid. Something that previous management failed to do.

Morey’s first move was trading Al Horford, 2025 1st round pick, & #34 overall to Oklahoma City for Danny Green & Terrance Ferguson. A move that opened up over $8M+ of cap space.

Morey’s second move was trading Josh Richardson & #36 overall to Dallas for Seth Curry. A move that opened up over $3M+ of cap space.

Both moves made by Morey were correcting mistakes made by Elton Brand & the previous management just last year. Both moves brought in better fits & players to work with the Sixers young core rather than against it.

But, Morey just wasn’t a savior to Sixers fans & a corrector of the wrongs made by Brand. Morey is the villain Philadelphia has been needing to make things right.

Today, Morey posted highlights of the Sixers three draft picks to his twitter account. However, Morey also attached highlights of Mike Muscala in addition to Tyrese Maxey highlights.

Now, initially many thought Muscala may have been a late add to the Al Horford trade with Oklahoma City. However, after you see the clip, it tells a different story. It’s the tale of how the Sixers got Maxey in the first place.

With the Sixers acquiring Tobias Harris in 2019, their 1st round pick was with the LA Clippers. But, the Sixers owned the rights to the Oklahoma City Thunder 1st round pick (Top 20 protected).

The reason the Sixers got the 21st overall pick was because of Mike Muscala’s two late 3-pointers against the Miami Heat in the play-in series in the bubble. The clip Morey posted with the Maxey highlights was the two 3-pointers Muscala made.

Morey has already made his mark in the Sixers front office by being the villain of undoing the moves made last year by Elton Brand. Now, Morey has become the villain of the NBA & the Sixers are proud to have him. As is the whole city of Philadelphia.
