Corey Clement Is Back, But the Eagles Aren’t Out of the Running Back Market Just Yet

We ride again!! Welcome back Super Bowl hero Corey Clement:

It is exciting that Corey Clement is back and the running back position is one that needed to be bolstered. He was obviously an integral part of the Super Bowl victory, but he also low key was in many of the Carson Wentz almost-MVP highlight reel. The catch in the corner of the end zone on MNF against the Redskins. The screen pass touchdown to cap a 51-9 win over the Broncos. The birthday touchdown! Maybe Clement still has some left in the tank when he’s healthy. Just, let someone else do the kick returns.

What intrigues me even more is the very not so subtle hint that the Eagles are still stocking up at the running back position. I will bang this drum until it happens but go get Devonta Freeman. Miles Sanders is a very clear RB1 but Devonta Freeman in a extended back-up role would be perfect. As a productive pass catcher, Freeman could thrive with the amount the Eagles rely on the screen game. Freeman’s production has been down for 3 seasons straight, much in large to part to injury issues. He’s no longer the RB1 he was in Atlanta, but spelling Miles would be the perfect role for him at this point.

Corey Clement isn’t the only familiar face that could be on his way back to the nest.

People will be bummed about this because they don’t want any pass rusher not named Yannick Ngakoue. But edge rusher, just like running back, is a position that needed additional. Who knows, maybe get two edge rushers. Curry and then Jadeveon Clowney.
