Flyers Oskar Lindblom To Start Final Cancer Treatments
Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom has been on the forefront of everyone’s mind. The 23-year-old Swede has been going through cancer treatments for a rare bone cancer, Ewing sarcoma, over the past 5 months. But, fans were greeted with good news Monday night.
In a conference call Monday night, Flyers assistant GM Brett Flahr had some great news about Oskar.
“Oskar’s going through his last treatments coming up here, but everything I’ve been told from Jim McCrossin has been very positive. He feels great, considering the condition he’s in. He’s such a great kid and he’s determined. His focus is to play as soon as possible.”
It is still unknown what is the next step is for Oskar Lindblom after the final treatment is over. Whether that is an observation period or a clearance to return to normal physical activities.
“For all the stuff this guy has been through, he looks terrific,” Flahr said. “The last time I saw him, he looked good. He had that smile on his face. He’s doing things like cardio to keep up his strength as much as he can. I think as soon as he gets his last treatments, the worst is over for him.”
Whether or not Oskar will be able to play hockey next season is still unknown. That is a decision that will depend on how Oskar recovers from his treatments.
“It couldn’t have gone any better for him,” Flahr said Lindblom’s doctors told him.
Great news for Oskar, who has been a tremendous fighter to beat this cancer. #OSKARSTRONG #F-CANCER
