Rex Ryan Channels His Father By Calling Cowboys Receiver “a Turd”

In an incredibly sad time with no live sports happening for the foreseeable future, former NFL head coach and ESPN personality Rex Ryan gave his impression on the Dallas Cowboys endless soap opera.

On the latest episode of Get Up! Rex Ryan criticized the Dallas Cowboys for re-signing receiver Amari Cooper to a 5 year/$100 million contract as opposed to re-signing quarterback Dak Prescott and drafting a new receiver instead. While taking this stance isn’t the boldest statement in the world, his choice of words on the matter hilariously came out of nowhere by calling Cooper a “disappearing act” and “I wouldn’t have paid this turd.”

That’s right, the former NFL head coach who led Mark Sanchez to back-to-back AFC Championship games called a player “a turd” from his own home with a Snoopy Rex plush doll in the background.

Cooper has been productive for Dallas over the past two seasons. His bold acquisition from the Raiders for a 1st round pick saved their season and made them a playoff team again. The 2019 season however, told a different story as Cooper was one of the faces of their underachievement. He practically disappeared in the biggest game of last season at Lincoln Financial Field as the Birds defense held Dallas’ highly praised offense to 9 points. ESPN analysts Dan Orlovsky and Rex Ryan were highly critical of Cooper not fighting to be on the field during the crucial 4th down at the end of that game.

Rex Ryan of course is the son of popular and overrated Eagles head coach Buddy Ryan. Buddy famously hated the Cowboys and his petty wars with the team in the late-80s became the stuff of Philly legend. Who cares if Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones were in the process of the most remarkable rebuild in NFL history? Buddy destroyed their kicker! While Rex never had to worry too much about the Cowboys since he’s spent his head coaching career in the AFC, he just channeled his inner-Buddy on live television.

Despite last seasons disappointment, the Cowboys know they are tied to Dak Prescott and will have to pay him a mega-contract eventually. But the Jones family knows that it’s much harder to build a championship team after paying the big quarterback contract. The Eagles and the Chiefs are a couple of examples of teams that capitalized on winning a Super Bowl before having to bring out the brinks trucks (and the Birds managed to do it with TWO starting-caliber quarterbacks.) Dallas probably hopes to push back that deal to go all-in for one more season.

Obviously it’s pointless to talk about the next NFL season because no one knows when sports is coming back, but at least Rex Ryan is providing Philadelphians and Cowboy-haters a big belly laugh by using the t-word. Buddy would be proud.
