Report: Eagles Acquiring CB Darius Slay From Detroit

According to ESPNs Josina Anderson, the Eagles have solidified their CB position. Josina normally does not provide Eagles fans with good news. But, this late night news is good. Very good.

Per source, the Eagles have acquired Darius Slay and are expected to sign Slay to a 3-year contract extension.

The package going to Detroit is unknown at the moment. According to early reports, a mid-round pick is expected to be the package.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman had something brewing being so quiet lately. That move was Slay.

Fans had been uneasy with the way how the Eagles started free agency. But, this trade puts some calm to their nerves.

The one position the Eagles have been band-aiding over the past few years now has a leader in a player DC Jim Schwartz drafted while the head coach of the Lions.

In 103 career games (94 starts), Slay has 19 INTs, 1 forced fumble, & 347 tackles.

The Eagles secondary ranked in the bottom 5 of the NFL last season. Slay’s addition will certainly help with that and give the Eagles a very good combo with either Avonte Maddox or Rasul Douglas (currently) on his other side.

The Eagles might not be done addressing the secondary with their offseason plans. Philly native Willy Parks is a name to keep an eye on.
