Flyers Depth On Full Display Against The Jets

The Philadelphia Flyers continued climb the metro division standings and got another win on home ice. Defeating the Winnipeg Jets Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-2.

Scott Laughton would score two 1st period goals to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead after the first. Ivan Provorov out-hustled a Jet to find Laughton for his first. Laughton would then out-hustle a Jet himself to score his second.

Sean Couturier would make it 3-0 in the 2nd. After finding the loose puck in a scrum in-front, Couturier would fire one by Hellebuyck for his 19th of the season.

After two Winnipeg goals, a Robert Hagg shot from the point would hit Tyler Pitlick and deflect off of a Jets player skate to give the Flyers a 4-2 lead.

Carter Hart was spectacular, stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced to earn his 16th win on home ice this season.

Loose Pucks…

The Flyers depth was on display today. Three of the four Flyers goals came off the sticks of the Flyers on their bottom two lines.

Scott Laughton continued to show why he will be a big part of how far the Flyers go in the playoffs. Scoring two goals today, while adding three blocks, Laughton is the kind of depth player teams need to have for long runs in the playoffs.

With the win, the Flyers have now won 8-straight games at the Wells Fargo Center against the Winnipeg Jets. The home team in the matchup has been on fire. Winning 9 straight games.

Ivan Provorov continued to get back to his normal self. After going 17-games with just 3A, Provorov now has 2G & 3A in his last 7-games.

Justin Braun is starting to show why GM Chuck Fletcher gave up two picks for him. Today, Braun had his second 3-point game in his last 4-games. The Braun-Hagg combination has been extremely good as of late.

It’s deadline time. Today was the last time the Flyers will play until after the deadline. With how well they are playing & Nolan Patrick’s possible return coming, will they make a move? If they do, watch out for Derek Grant in Anaheim. Would be great depth add without breaking the bank.
