Rumors of Derrick Rose as a Sixers Reserve Are All Too Ironic

In the midst of one of the most chaotic games of the Sixers season thus far, Chris Haynes dropped this little nugget on us:

Every week, Sixers Twitter has a contentious debate about the back-up point guard position: Trey Burke vs Raul Neto. Although, most of the fan base seems to lose their mind when Burke doesn’t see the floor in favor of Neto. Here’s something to consider during that heated debate…they both fucking suck. That’s why there’s a debate in the first place. Who’s going to hurt you LESS, when Ben sparingly gets a chance to get gasp of air. It’s basically like the Steelers going with a back-up quarterback this past season, who’s going to fuck this up less for the rest of the team.

Talk all the shit you want on Ben Simmons, the guy has to play 40+ minutes a night for this team to survive. They have no other choice. Time to give them a legitimate Plan B.

In comes Rose and the irony of needing him as a back-up because the starting point guard is being run into the ground 82 nights a year. Back in the Thibs Era Bulls days, D Rose has to do everything on the court and they couldn’t really survive without him for longer than 3 minutes in basketball time. Now, the Sixers are faced with a similar dilemma when Simmons leaves the floor. The defense gets lazy, there’s no one to truly run the offense, it’s a whole different team without him.

If only MVP Derrick Rose had this version of Derrick Rose back in the day. Revisionist history, but we probably save him from multiple knee issues and make that team even more competitive. A burst of energy off the bench, a breath of fresh air for the starter. Time to give Ben the help Derrick Rose never got, by getting Derrick Rose for Ben.
