For the Cowboys on Sunday, the Prophecy Was Already Written

Sunday was a crisp but sunny day, one of the best days recently and everything felt right. I smiled all day leading up to 4:25pm. It was a damn good day to win a football game. As nerve-wracking a game as it was, the outcome could be seen from a mile away.

The Eagles beating the Cowboys on Sunday, was a poetic and fitting ending for a mediocre era of Cowboys football.

Dallas was the more talented team on that field. When they lost, when they underperformed, we all knew why: The Jason Garrett era, epitomized in one Sunday afternoon. The prophecy was already written.

For the Eagles, they played with a youthful exuberance and energy we hadn’t seen from this team in ages. The last two weeks may have been wins against less than stellar opponents, but they were so important in the long run. The first drive today featured productive plays from JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Miles Sanders, Greg Ward and Boston Scott. The confidence of the young guys is growing. Along with it comes the teams confidence in Carson Wentz. That was the most confident that Eagles team has been at Lincoln Financial Field since the 2017 NFC Championship Game.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, their prophecy had already been written. When dogs are sick and dying, they will stick their head right up against the wall. That’s how Dallas played. They knew they were on the verge of another season with high expectations ending 8-8, they knew it was the final straw of such instances. They took that field knowing this coaching staff were dead man walking. The game may have been close, but that was a group of 53 men who knew there was a predetermined outcome.
