Eagles Could Be Close To Bringing Back A Familiar Face

According to Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski, former Eagles wide-receiver and current free agent, Jordan Matthews, is in Philadelphia today for a physical.

Doug Pederson said on Monday that the Eagles would look at the options at wide-receiver because of the potential long-term injury to DeSean and the good not great play from the wide receiver core this season. From reports, it seems the Eagles are looking at a very familiar face to fill that void.

Matthews, who was released from San Francisco two weeks ago, is looking for a new home. A home that could be Philadelphia with the Eagles. With DeSean Jackson more than likely out for the season, the Eagles need a veteran wide-receiver to fill his spot for the rest of the season.

If the Eagles do sign Jordan Matthews, it would be his 3rd stint with the team.

In his previous two stints with the Eagles, Matthews has had great chemistry with Carson Wentz. Before ending his first stint, Matthews was seen as Wentz’s favorite target before the emergence of TE Zach Ertz.

Jordan Matthews isn’t the player he used to be, but would give the Eagles some stability at the wide-receiver position. A position that ranks 27th overall in the league.
