Jalen Ramsey Told the Jags He “Has the Flu” and Can’t Practice

This is simply amazing.

Classic, not wanting to go into work on a Monday. We’ve all been here. Half of Philadelphia also feels like they have the flu today. Although, we don’t really know if we’re sick or if our bodily functions just completely shut down after the Eagles lose. When JJ Arcega-Whiteside dropped that game winner, our white blood cells were just like, “you’re on your own buddy”.

But, for Ramsey this is the funniest instance of faking illness since Ferris Bueller’s parents somehow believed the “1. Clammy Hands 2. Phony Fever 3. Doctor’s office” routine. I fully imagine a Jaguars official going over to Jalen Ramsey’s house and him opening the door with a blanket around him looking like Spongebob with the suds. Only for the Jags representative to leave and Ramsey to throw the blanket off and continue his in-home gym workout.

We are very close to Ramsey going full Jimmy Butler and showing up to practice next week where he plays with the third-team defense while shouting at Doug Marrone.

A week ago, I was out on the Eagles making a move to pry Ramsey away from Jacksonville. A week later and I have done a complete about-face. The price tag is still too steep, but it is now a price tag the Eagles should pay. Reason being? If the Eagles were to use that first round pick (and any other picks sacrificed for Ramsey) and draft someone, how much faith do we have right now that the drafted player will pan out. Sunday featured a bevy of young Eagles failing miserably, there’s no reason make it sound any nicer.

Sidney Jones got lost in coverage a couple of times, which is a new weekly affair. The pass rush recorded zero sacks, led by Derek Barnett. Miles Sanders does not look like an NFL ready running back (there’s still time). And last but certainly not least, it’s a good thing the Eagles drafted JJ Acrega-Whiteside because he’s a physical wide receiver who wins jump balls.

The Eagles have given us little faith to believe that they can draft legitimate prospects especially at several key positions including wide receiver. They are in a position where they need to get younger as a roster, which only happens if they are able to draft and develop draft picks. It just simply isn’t happening at a quick enough rate. Jalen Ramsey will provide the Eagles a unique work-around of the draft crapshoot because Ramsey, while already fully blossomed into a legitimate All-Pro, is still very young (same draft as Carson Wentz).

Last year, the Cowboys sacrificed a first round pick in order to land Amari Cooper. It totally turned their season around. This year, the Eagles may have to take that same route with Jalen Ramsey.
