Updates on the Eagles (Less Than Ideal) Injury Situations

Halfway through the week, we’re quickly gaining a ton of insight into the Eagles recent medical ailments. Spoiler, the insight isn’t very promising. If you stopped right here to avoid ruining your work day, I would not blame you.

Here is the Sparknotes version: In a press conference today, Doug Pederson said everyone (Goedert, Jeffery, Jackson, Clement) is day –to- day except Tim Jernigan who is the furthest out.

Dallas Goedert – Yesterday, the Eagles signed tight end, Alex Ellis off of the practice squad. Doesn’t take a fortune teller to read the writing on the wall. This certainly seems like an insurance policy for Zach Ertz on Sunday with the belief Goedert won’t be out there to help out.

Corey Clement – One of those day to day guys. This isn’t injury news but if/when Clement returns, that fumble should be the last memory we have of him as the kick return man. I’m not convinced Miles Sanders is good (yet), but I think kick returner is a role he can thrive in. Feels like they gave Clement the role of returner just simply so he had a role. Bum shoulder or healthy shoulder, Clement should be the kick returner going forward.

Alshon Jeffery – John Clarke reported yesterday that the Eagles could be shutting down Alshon for a few weeks while he nurses that calf strain. Today, Doug Pederson designated Alshon as one of those day to day guys. Think as a fan base we should lean more towards John Clarke’s report. This away game on a Thursday night in Week 4 is going to screw us. If any of the players with soft tissue injuries aren’t healthy enough to play this Sunday, it is highly doubtful they’d be ready three days later for Green Bay.

Desean Jackson – Tim McManus reported Jackson has an abdominal strain that will sideline him two weeks. Doug Pederson stated he is day-to-day. Once again, think we need to be optimistic here and assume two weeks. See Jeffery, Alshon. If the abdominal strain is still an issue this Sunday, it’ll probably still be an issue next Thursday.

Tim Jernigan – Doug Pederson said Jernigan is the furthest away. Makes sense seeing as there have been multiple reports that he broke his foot and is out 4-6 weeks. Mike Florio gave us a heart attack with this “out for season” report but he later retracted it. I don’t have any medical expertise in anything besides two day hangovers, but my medical prediction is that Jernigan should have a targeted return date of Week 7 against the Cowboys.

Tune in next week for the latest installment of: Do the Eagles actually have a medical staff or is just that 18 year old kid who pretended to be a doctor?
