Skip Bayless is NOT Happy With His Cowboys Up to No Good Again

Wow, chalk this up in the things you hate to see:

Between Skip’s Cowboys complaints and Ben Shapiro claiming allegiance to the Celtics, it’s been a rough week for fan bases I hate with every fiber of my being.

Yet, Skip does make a good point here (how often does one get to say that?). Seemingly every season, the Cowboys put themselves behind the eight ball to start the season with a flurry of suspensions. What Skip is referencing here is newly acquired defensive end, Robert Quinn getting slapped with a two game suspension just yesterday. If you remember, and you may not because it is hard to keep track, Robert Quinn was brought in by the Cowboys to soften the blow of losing Randy Gregory to (another) suspension. Now Quinn is suspended himself.

The Dallas Sporting News did some research on the Dallas Cowboys suspension streak and this excerpt is astounding:

“This marks the sixth consecutive year the Cowboys will open the regular season with at least one of their defensive starters on suspension. It’s a little hard to keep track since Gregory, David Irving and Rolando McClain were hit with multiple suspensions. But the Cowboys have now had 14 players serve a total of 17 suspensions since 2014.“

This paragraph doesn’t even mention the Ezekiel Elliot mess in which he was suspended for 6 games during the regular season after losing his appeal. (Hey, at least he is not playing on his own accord this time!)  I’ll stop here in an effort to not jynx the Eagles into a Lane Johnson season long ban. It is just somewhat fascinating, in a division that is always tightly contested, the Cowboys are always fighting with one arm tied behind their back.

It’s a culture thing. And I can comment on this because here in Philly, we are experiencing a similar issue. No, not the Eagles, the Phillies. When you look at Gabe Kapler and Jason Garrett, study their mannerisms and here them talk, they just aren’t guys who command the room. They don’t have to be hard asses, but there is plenty of evidence that seems to suggest they don’t have the respect of their players. For the second straight year, the Phillies are collapsing in August and the players don’t seem to care. For the sixth straight season, the Cowboys will begin the season with AT LEAST one starter suspended. Where is the accountability in these locker rooms?! I hate comparing one of our teams to Dallas but when I think back to that Carlos Santana story (destroying a TV), I think if anything has changed in that clubhouse? When I look at ANOTHER offseason of suspensions and Ezekiel Elliot drama, I think if anything will EVER change for Dallas.
