It Doesn’t Matter What the Phillies Do at the Trade Deadline (Unless it Does)

It doesn’t matter what the Phillies do today unless somehow it does.

I’m not sure there’s any big move(s) that they’re willing to or even can still make at this point.

Something in my gut is telling me the playoffs aren’t in the stars for this team (the Wild Card isn’t the playoffs. Don’t @ me). There just doesn’t seem to be that extra thing that championship teams have. The Sixers didn’t have it this year, the Eagles didn’t have it last year, but the DID have it in 2017 and you know what happened there. A lot of it has to do with an extraordinary amount of injuries, but this team just doesn’t have that FEEL.

A team can have all the talent in the world (this Phillies team doesn’t) but if they’re not loose like the video of the Eagles bouncing around to Dreams and Nightmares in the film room before the NFC Championship then they don’t stand a shot of winning anything.

This team had it until they didn’t. Andrew McCutchen was the spark plug for this team and losing his bat and his attitude was a knife in the belly button for this team. Him dancing in the dugout looking fly as hell in the red uniform just feels like the video of the little kid crying doing the shoot.

For anyone that doesn’t know, there’ll be no waiver period this year so this is the last chance to trade for pieces for the Phillies and it really feels like with Stroman and Bauer off the table and Klentak’s buy-low mentality that we’ve been seeing the last few days that nothing big is coming.

Call me pessimistic. I don’t care. No matter who the Phillies trade for today it won’t change anything….

unless it does.
