The Phillies Just Traded For Your High School’s English Teacher

Jason Vargas is boring.

The trade is boring.

Late summer baseball is boring.

This team is boring.

If you’re looking for numbers and stats this isn’t the blog you want to read.

And if you want to read boring stats about a boring player in a boring trade then you probably don’t follow this blog.

I was ready to give up on the season after that second thumping from the Braves and hope they figured out the pitching by next year. Yeah the offense has been lukewarm at best too but pitching is the real issue.

But all signs pointed to Klentak and Co. buying at the deadline which is fine if you have a legit plan to make a run at the wild card. It really seems like they can’t be done after this  though.

Not sure what is more sad: the Phillies trading for Jason Vargas or Jason Vargas being the Phillies second best starting pitcher after the trade.

I don’t know if they thought this move would stir everyone up about buying starting pitching or if they legitimately think Vargas is the answer but either way I’m bored.

Bored is the only word I can keep coming up with and I think it sums up the move and Jason Vargas in general pretty nicely.

So in summation (which is definitely what Jason Vargas tells his English classes to say) this trade is somewhere between nothing and something.
