Jimmy Butler Possibly Going to the Heat and the Phillies Blew a 6-1 Lead Happened in About 2 Minutes…Because Philly Sports

Today marks the most five minutes of Philly sports ever since Carson tore his ACL in the Rams game and the Sixers announced Joel Embiid was out indefinitely with back issues.

Let’s start with the Phillies because there only getting one line in this.  Playoff teams don’t blow a 6-1 lead to the Marlins. They also don’t lose 5 straight to the Marlins.

Now to the Sixers because Free Agency is about to get wild? What the fuck is going on? This seemed so simple and now it’s not. Give Jimmy Butler a max contract and it’s done. Now the idea of a sign-and-trade with Miami is in play?
On top of that, “Did the Sixers Win?” went from tweeting “No” 70 times a year to breaking news like Woj stating that Tobias is back, Jimmy is gone and Al Horford…AL HORFORD is signing here.

Financially, I still don’t get how the Heat sign-and-trade deal for Jimmy would work. They’d obviously need both Jason Richardson and probably like Justice Winslow back, but the Sixers would still need to take back additional salary from Miami. Look, Sixers, I’ve been through a lot with you, but every man has their limits and rooting for Kelly Olynyk is mine. It also makes no sense to take that money back from Miami when we need to build our roster out.
Then there’s this tweet, which takes my confusion to borderline hysteria:

Would Jimmy Butler really be willing to leave Philly for THIS? Did he see the seen after we won a Super Bowl? Don’t we do Allen Iverson Night like every other home game? Leaving Philadelphia because of a D Wade Retirement Tour seems absolutely ridiculous. He also wouldn’t even get that treatment, he’s not drafted by them OR winning them 3 titles.
Everything can be so simple. Yet, when it come to comes to Philly sports it has to be so complicated.
