The Giants Took Daniel Jones 6th Overall…That’s It, That’s The Joke

Look, I’m sure laughing at the expense of Giants fans after their franchise took quarterback, Daniel Jones 6th overall will blow up in our faces. Years from now he will be some force to be reckoned with in the NFC East. He will be everything Sean McVay wants Jared Goff to be. That just seems to be how the NFL goes.

But for now…I can’t believe the Giants made that pick.

The Giants are having one of the more disastrous offseasons I can remember.

Firstly, I still can’t believe they traded Odell Beckham. I know Giants GM, Dave Gettleman said Beckham Jr. created a cultural issue in the locker room. You know what causes are real cultural issue? Losing. Not to mention, the Giants traded Odell mere weeks after committing to him verbally and a year after committing to him financially. And the trade value they got in return? Not even close to enough.

Which brings us to last night. Did they even need to take a quarterback at all? I wasn’t as down as keeping Eli and drafting a QB as some were. It gives Jones a year to be groomed and it sure as Hell seems like he needs it. My bigger concern with this strategy is why employ it at all?

The Giants, who’ve known for quite some time known they needed a new quarterback, finally drafted one in between two loaded quarterback classes. They went running back at pick 2 last year. They kept Eli and went into a rebuild. With a loaded quarterback class looming with Tua and Justin Herbert, they’ve positioned themselves perfectly to snag one. But, they go quarterback this year instead. Right smack dab in the middle.

They’ve essentially opted out of Sam Darnold, Tua, and Justin Herbert in favor of…Daniel Jones. Come on man.

Don’t worry, Giants fans. Our Eagles once took a quarterback early in the first round who the fan base objected to at the time of the draft. And look who he turned out, he’s a pretty good shock jock analyst now!!
