The Phillies Announce the 2026 All Star Game Will be in Philly for our Grandchildren

I remember in 6th grade they brought all the schools that fed into our high school together for a field day or some dumb shit and they said “Hellloooo Class of 2016!!!!”

Eleven-year-old me laughed at the thought of the year 2016 even existing. It was 2010. Silly Bandz were all the rage. Ke$ha was poppin’. And there was no way 2016 would ever come.

That’s basically this announcement that the Phillies made.

The MLB All Star game will be in Philly in 2026 (TWENTY TWENTY SIX!!!!!) as part of the nation’s 250th birthday and they’re trying to get the other sports to do the same.

That’s at LEAST 57 years away from now.

This has to be the only thing in the world planned out that far in advance other than like Alabama and Notre Dame in 3072.

It would be fun though. If Philly is somewhat of a cleaner city by then I could see this being a whole festival-type atmosphere. The complex isn’t near the city but there would surely be events in center city and driving will be a nightmare that week.

If I still work at the same coffee shop on Walnut (kill me if I’m pouring coffee in the Jetson’s type future of 2026) that weekend will be a nightmare.

I don’t even want to speculate what the Phils are going to look like in 2026 because it could get REALLY dark but Jon Marks & Ike Reese had a hilarious hypothetical about it.

It’s definitely going to be Kamu Grugier-Hill. Lock that in now.

Very weird announcement too. They made a big deal about a surprise announcement a day early but we all already heard this so I was like “Could it be something else?”

It wasn’t.

Also, to have current players there is very weird. Andrew McCutchen is great but he may be dead of old age by 2026, so why is he there?

Bryce Harper stole the show though of course.

The only thing I know for sure is I’ll be thinking about this every day until it comes. Start your countdown calendars and book your hotel rooms now.

God knows I already have.
