JT Realmuto = Bryce Harper???

On a day that we have to say good bye to our sweet prince, Markelle Fultz, we get to welcome someone else. JT Realmuto. His name has been tossed around for weeks and the Phillies swooped in and grabbed him like a thief in the night.

Nerds who follow the farm system (me) will tell you that giving up Sixto was probably too much. But I’ve come around and actually like this trade. I never cared about Jorge Alfaro, his arm was great but that was where the flare started and ended. They had to add Wilson Ramos last season to mask his mediocrity and that barely helped.

As for Sixto, well Dom Brown was a stud, untouchable prospect too. He could win 3 Cy Youngs and yeah, that would sting, but you never know and it’s definitely worth the risk.

Shout out to Matt Klentak’s balls.

And I’m just now getting to the kicker. Realmuto may be the key that unlocks the door to Citizens Bank Park for Bryce Harper. Harper is known to be a Realmuto fan so if this was the domino that Harper needed to be able to sign then Sixto can win 200 Cy Youngs and I won’t even care.

Harper is the end game and I am willing to do anything to get there.

I guess ill use this time to just address the fact that Realmuto is also one of the best catchers in the league and only worth $2.9 million this season. His offensive productivity has increased every year he’s been in the league. And whenever he starts to dip you can ship him off to a team that needs a veteran bat and/or first baseman.

GG to the rest of the NL East.
