The Philadelphia Flyers lost Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center 3-2 in a shootout to the LA Kings. Coming back from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1, the Flyers stole a point after ending their win streak at 8 games.
Sean Couturier got the Flyers on the board first with a backhand that beat Kings Jonathan Quick in the 2nd. Claude Giroux made a tremendous diving play to get the puck to Couturier to setup the goal.
Jake Voracek would tie the game with just 17.3 seconds left in the 3rd period. Claude Giroux would set Voracek up with a beautiful cross-ice pass to tie the game.

Here are 4 more observations from the Flyers 3-2 shootout loss to the Kings…
Comeback Kids Steal A Point
When the Flyers got down in the beginning of the season, they would come back but fall short. Other the past few weeks, the Flyers have comeback all the way. Tonight, they came back but couldn’t finish it off.
After playing their worst period in games, the Flyers used a great final 40 minutes to fuel a comeback. Coming back from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1.
The Flyers are at a point in the season where every point counts. Tonight, they didn’t even deserve one. But, through their heart and fight, they stole a point.
No Support For Stolarz
Anthony Stolarz has made 17 career starts for the Flyers. In only 9 of those starts the Flyers have scored 2 or more goals. The Flyers are averaging only 2.35 goals scored in Stolarz starts.
Tonight, that was no different. The Flyers only scored once in the first 59 minutes of the game. Then added a 6 on 5 goal with 17 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
A team protecting their other young net-minder, cant seem to give any support for their other young net-minder.
Gostisbehere With A Night To Forget
Shayne Gostisbehere is one of the best young offensive defenseman in the NHL. But, Gostisbehere is starting to make a name for himself in the wrong way.
Being an offensive first defenseman is great. But, what Gostisbehere is having trouble with is picking his times to jump in the play. Tonight, just like a couple times over the past few weeks, Gostisbehere was caught out of position again.
On the Kings second goal, Gostisbehere was caught up ice after jumping into the zone. Gostisbehere jumping into the zone with no coverage allowed the Kings to break-out on a 3v1 for the easy goal.
A rough stretch has Gostisbehere leaning back on bad trends that resulted in him seeing a seat in the press-box a ton two years ago. Something Gostisbehere must work on. Deciding on when to jump into the rush or hold back.
Points In 9 Straight
It is February. Every point you lose hurts more than ever. But, every point you steal, is an even bigger bonus.
Tonight, the Flyers stole a point they didn’t deserve. Winning 8-straight coming in to tonight, a Flyers loss was coming at some point. But, when the Flyers loss, every time it comes in overtime, it is worth it.
Another point for the Flyers very far playoff chances. But, a point they needed.
