Bankrupt the Bookie Volume 1: Super Bowl Edition
Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the debut of Bankrupt the Bookie. My goal here is to help you make free money through your local laundromat book man. Each week I will post my picks for the weekend. Eventually it’s your choice to chase the dragon along with me. Most times, it will have a Philly Sports theme. But, I figured Super Bowl weekend would be a good time to start.
First up College Basketball:
Philly Schools
First up is Saint Joe’s at home against UMass. Saint Joe’s doesn’t have a great squad but they should handle UMass in Philly. Spread is -3.5 here so take it and make some early money to cover a bad beat later.
Second game of the day is Temple at Tulane at 6 pm. Temple is 11 point favorites. The owls have lost three of the last four games and Tulane is flat out terrible. Not gonna take a chance at a backdoor cover so go grab the money line when it comes out.
La Salle at Richmond also goes off at 6 pm, wont beat around the bush here the Explorers suck. Richmond just got a big win on the road earlier this week. I think they bring that energy back home and take care of La Salle. Richmond -6 at home.
Drexel at Elon starts at 7 pm. Not really sure about these teams. The only thing I know about Drexel is that home games are great date spots. Let’s take the under at 154 for this game, two midlevel teams hopefully they play good defense.
Penn at Colombia is the last philly team to play. Tip off is 8 pm. The Quakers are a tournament team no questions asked. They get an easy win here but I would be wary of the spread. Something about Columbia being a desperate team with 8 wins on home court. No pick here.
Now for the money picks. These are my picks that I am giving to you because Bookies take money from people every day. They break legs, seize cars, ruin lives. All of us that choose to ride the train will change that.
First up is Iowa State at home with Bevo and Texas coming north @ 2pm. The Cyclones are an absolute lock here. Spread is -7 but they have no problem putting on a show for the home crowd. Remember its Iowa so all they have is corn and basketball.
Next we are heading down to the swamp for Kentucky vs Florida @ 4pm. The Wildcats handle business with ease here. Florida is coming off of an emotional OT win against Ole Miss. Calipari knows how to win and he’s connected to the mob so he always covers. Take the spread early at -2 because I can promise it will close around -3 or -3.5.
Super Bowl
As much as it pains me to say it this one is easy. Patriots -2.5 is a lock. It might come down to the wire but if you wanna make a few extra bucks here’s a double dip. You take the total under for the first half, after that hits take your money and double it with second half over. Gotta keep it interesting folks.
