Some Unfiltered, 2AM Takes on the Sixers Win Over the Warriors
Here it is, no intros, no nothing. Just pure unfiltered, slightly delusional Sixers takes after an enormous win over the Warriors.
Ben Simmons Played His Best Game as a Sixer
I have been on record as saying Ben needs to become an alpha for this team to succeed. Guy’s an All-Star for a few hours and he fucks around and becomes that alpha. He was absolutely everywhere on the floor against the Warriors. Simmons was like a combination of Doc-Ock from Spiderman and prime Vince Carter. Joel had a terrible first half. Jimmy was involved, but didn’t score much. And there’s Ben. Not Beta Ben. ALL-STAR ALPHA BEN.
Joel Embiid Played a Horrid First Half…Then Completely Dominated
I’ve never seen someone get into Embiid’s head quite like Boogie Cousins did in the first half. But, the stepped back out on that court for another 24 minutes and Embiid just bullied his way to a 20/20 performance (26 points, 20 rebounds to be exact). I described Demarcus Cousins guarding Jonah Bolden as like watching an animal of prey get hunted in a Planet Earth documentary. It would have been more accurately described Joel Embiid posting up Kevon Looney. Poor Looney, he had to have had that inferior feeling during the Sixers 42(!!!) point 3rd quarter. He just couldn’t stop Embiid.
JJ With the Clutch Dagger(?!?)
JJ Redick, who never hits clutch shots, just ripped out the throats of everyone at Oracle Arena. JJ Redick hitting clutch shots down the stretch. Ben Simmons hitting free throws. Who are you people and what have you done with the Sixers?!
*Whispers…the Bench Played Well
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in on this Wes Matthews buy-out thing. And if they don’t get a backup Center, I’ll explode. But, given the circumstances, the bench played above their capabilities against Golden State! Maybe it was becuase Reggie Miller was screaming “UCLA!” every time Jonah Bolden did something well, but it seemed like I was hearing his name in a postive manner tonight. Contributed some really valuable minutes. Obviously I would like to be buried with a tape of Landry Shamet’s pin block and proceeding four point play. I also wouldn’t mind Mike Muscala closing out games instead of Wilson Chandler going forward.
Everything is Coming Together
This seems like the the marquee win that catapults your season into a deep playoff run. The rotations are coming together. The chemistry is coming together. The Big 3 are learning to play together better. They are closing games out (my mental health thanks you). It’s. All. Coming. Together.
