Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself, My Name Is … JIMMY BUTLER
In the words of Jay-Z’s hit song, Public Service Announcement. Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself, My Name Is … JIMMY BUTLER.
After being acquired for two of the most prolific “process” guys there were, Jimmy Butler didn’t start off his tenure in Philadelphia on a good note. One of the main reasons the Sixers acquired Butler was to finish out games in the 4th quarter.
However, in game one as a Sixer, Jimmy Butler failed to do so. Having a stellar debut, Jimmy Butler had 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting heading into the 4th quarter. Butler ended the night with 14 points on 6 of 12 shooting.
Yes. The player the Sixers just acquired to close out games went 0 for 3 in crunch time. Not the best of starts for Butler in a Sixers uniform.
However, in game two as a Sixer, Jimmy Butler showed his superstar ability. In his home debut, Butler had 20 points on 9 of 11 shooting heading into the 4th quarter. Butler ended the night with 28 points on 12 of 15 shooting.
Now, that is the player the Sixers acquired. Someone who they can rely on in crunch time. Butler went 3 of 4 shooting for 8 points in the 4th quarter and finished the game shooting 80% from the field. Yes, you read that correctly. 80% from the field.
But, it doesn’t stop there. For an encore, in Butler’s third game. Well, if you watched the game. You know what happened. However, if you didn’t. Here is why the Sixers got Jimmy Butler.
With the game tied at 110-110, the Sixers had the ball with the shot-clock turned off and the clock under 20 seconds left. You knew exactly who was getting the ball. Butler went iso, 1v1, with a Charlotte Hornets defender. Shot goes up. Back-rim, no good. To overtime we go.
Back and forth we go in overtime. Then, with the game tied at 119-119 with 32.9 seconds left, the Sixers needed a stop. Butler would go 1v1 with Hornets star, Kemba Walker, needing a stop. And, well… Here is what happened.

But, Butler wouldn’t stop there. After getting the stop and the ball back in the Sixers possession. Jimmy Butler would get another chance to end it. This time, he made it count.

WOW. JUST WOW.
Big time players, make big time plays. If you were mad or pissed or just not with the Jimmy Butler acquisition by the Sixers. Well, that right there is why the Sixers got Butler. In need of a superstar to do things like that to take over a game and win them.
WELCOME TO PHILADELPHIA JIMMY BUTLER. YOU HAVE INTRODUCED YOURSELF!!!!!
