The Darren Sproles Comeback Tour Lasted a Day
Darren Sproles had an awesome one day of practice, giving him a good chance to play this week…

After Philadelphia HC Doug Pederson said he expected Darren Sproles to play Sunday vs the Cowboys, the Eagles’ veteran RB went to practice and aggravated his hamstring injury, and now is expected to be sidelined, per sources. Sproles was highly disappointed, as were the Eagles.

Well, this is deflating. It felt like the Eagles roster as a whole was getting healthier, thus strengthening their depth. The return to practice or Sproles and Timmy Jernigan made it feel like we were filling up the gas tank for the long haul. Getting Sproles back specifically would be clutch as it would be clutch to get a burst out of the backfield. He is always good for one 3rd & 7 play where he catches a pass out of the backfield and you think, “fuck, he’s short”. Then, he slithers out of a tackle, picks up a few extra yards, and keeps the drive alive. I miss that.
This is the worst comeback attempt since the ‘Vacation’ movie series returned and tried to replace Chevy Chase with Andy from The Office. I mean, it wasn’t the worst remake ever, but Christmas Vacation is an all-time classic. You cannot replicate that cast and some of the hilarity in those Griswold family Christmas scenes. If you take anything from this blog post, it’s that Christmas Vacation and Elf are the two best Christmas movies and it’s not even close.
The other thing you should take from this post is that Jason Peters and Darren Sproles look like dogs on their deathbed. You can tell they’re at the point where the kids in the family don’t know the dogs need to die, so the parents take them “to the family farm in the country”. Really, the are taking the final trip to the vet. Peters and Sproles are getting dangerously close to that fateful trip. They lived a good life, they just can’t play fetch like they used to.
