What An Honorable Loss By Temple Football Last Night

Temple’s 52-40 loss last night to undefeated UCF was one of the greatest displays of sportsmanship, sacrifice and integrity I’ve ever seen.
UCF, last year’s “national champion”, is on currently on a quest for back to back undefeated seasons and a berth in the College Football Playoff. The boys from North Philly just were not having it.
In the first half, Temple’s offense was completely unstoppable. 445 yards of offense. 277 yards passing. 34 points. It was a blood bath for UCF’s defense.
Then, Geoff Collins gathered his guys at halftime and made the executive decision to lose the game. In a move to keep UCF’s playoff chances alive and strengthen the brand of the AAC, Temple gave them the game.
A true sacrifice for the greater good: The P6
Not only did Temple allow UCF to squeak one out, they managed to get the referees involved in this grand scheme too. A bevy of bull shit unsportsmanlike conduct calls, questionable pass interference flags…all part of the plan.
To the Golden Knights, you are welcome for our services. Losing as part of the long game is something this city isn’t unfamiliar with. Just goes to show how intelligent this Temple football program is. A program with the utmost integrity.
These brave young men are true American (Athletic Conference) heroes.
