Is Someone Hinting Bryce Harper Will Be A Philadelphia Phillie?
Has someone let the cat out of the bag? Could it possibly be true? Would Bryce Harper actually sign with the Philadelphia Phillies?
These are all questions coming about after some Sunday antics by Harper’s agent, Scott Boras. Boras, who is known to all as the mega-star agent, will do just about anything to get his client the most money possible. Make sure you read that correctly. WILL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE SURE HIS CLIENT GETS THE MOST MONEY POSSIBLE.
But, lets see what all the commotion is about first. Then decide.
On Sunday, in an interview with the YES Network, Boras said this in the interview…
“We know who the team is. It’s already completed and done, but Bryce has told me that he wanted to tell you personally.”
Sounds kind of fishy doesn’t it?
Now, this may be true. Maybe Harper has told Boras the team he wants to sign with and they just have to work out a deal. That could be the answer. But, Scott Boras has a history of misleading fans and teams to get more from a team the player wants to go to. This could all just be a hoax to raise Harper’s price tag even more.
But, then came the glorious Monday morning Bovada betting odds to where Bryce Harper will sign next year. And, well… You take a look for yourself…
Updated odds for what team Bryce Harper will be on for the first game of the 2019 regular season (@BovadaOfficial):

Nationals +400
Giants +750
Yankees +800

Red Sox +1500

Yes, you are reading that correctly. The Philadelphia Phillies are now the favorites to land Bryce Harper with EVEN odds. But, why would the Phillies be the favorite after they weren’t even apart of the post-season. At the end of the regular season, here were the odds…
Updated odds for which team Bryce Harper will be on for the first game of 2019 (@BovadaOfficial):
Cubs EVEN
LAD +500
PHI +550
NYY +600
WSH +700
BOS +1100
LAA +1200
SF +1600— Odds Shark (@OddsShark) October 4, 2018
Now, thats funny. Why would the odds change so dramatically over a post-season? What could have changed? I don’t remember seeing the Philadelphia Phillies having a deep run into the playoffs to change Harper’s mind. Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
Which leads me to this. You can read into Boras’s jokes about Harper’s next team already decided or not. But, the real question is, why would a sports betting agency change their odds on a team that sat and watched the whole post-season from their couch?
Something fishy is going on here. You be the judge of the situation. Will Bryce Harper be in the Philadelphia Phillies 2019 opening day line-up? Time will tell.
