Did Doug Pederson Hint The Eagles Will Make A Trade?

What is going on with all this hinting in Philadelphia these days? First, Boras and Harper antics. Now, did Doug Pederson hint the Philadelphia Eagles will make a trade?

In his normal Monday morning interview on with Angelo Cataldi on WIP, Doug Pederson had a very interesting response stand-out. Asked about the trade deadline and what the Eagles may do, here was his response…

“We’re always looking to better our roster and add talent and depth if we can. All I can say is, stay tuned…we’ll see what happens.”

Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm… Stay tuned, we’ll see what happens? Doug, did you just hint the Eagles will make a trade? Sure sounds like you did.

Now, it is no rumor that the Philadelphia Eagles have been looking for help at WR and RB the most, along with their other holes. But, WR and RB have been their most rumored need of improvement.

With Doug’s comment this morning, could help be on its way at one of those positions? Or possibly another position of need will be addressed?

Whatever Doug Pederson meant by this comment will be over quickly with the NFL trade deadline expiring at 4pm tomorrow. However, to add more fuel to the fire, a report by NFL Insider, Jason La Canfora, says the Steelers hope the Eagles rekindle their trade discussion from a month ago.

“The Steelers remain open to moving Le’Veon Bell and are hopeful the Philadelphia Eagles rekindle their trade discussions from last month about the perennial All Pro, according to league sources.”

Whatttttttttttttttt??? The Steelers hope the Eagles rekindle their talks? Are the Steelers getting desperate?

Now, it is still unknown what the actual asking price is for Bell. Rumored prices range from 2nd rounder to a 4th and a young player. In this situation, it is hard to tell. But, if Jason La Confora’s report is true, Howie maybe able to swoop in and grab Bell for a cheaper price.

At the beginning of the month, the Eagles restructured Fletcher Cox’s contract to open up a huge chunk of salary cap. Enough to fit Bell’s still unsigned franchise tag. Is it possible the Eagles trade for Le’Veon Bell. Yes. Will it probably happen? No.

Le’Veon Bell isn’t the only big name player the Eagles have been rumored to be interested in. Former Eagles, LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson names have both been linked to the Birds. Could they be back in the Eagles green this week?

If I had to guess, Doug Pederson’s comment was more centered around a cheaper option. Someone that can help get them to the end of the season and address the problem more in-depth in the offseason. A rental per-say.

In any who, even if they don’t make a move, the Eagles season is back alive with a great win in London vs the Jaguars. The NFC East is still very much up for grabs for the Birds.
