Cheerio Mate, The Philadelphia Eagles Reign Victorious In London

Cheerio, Philadelphians. The Philadelphia Eagles went to London and are coming back victorious. After a 1st half filled with uncertainty and injuries, the Eagles used a big 2nd half to beat the Jaguars.

The precedent for this game was win or go home for the Eagles. If they lose, the Eagles season was over. If they won, the Eagles season was right back on track.

But, the game didn’t start out great for the Eagles. On the first two positions, a Carson Wentz fumble and interception halted the Eagles drives. However, after the fumble and interception, the Eagles and Prince Carson found their grove.

After a Jaguars field goal, the Eagles got one of their own to tie the game at 3-3. The Jaguars would add another field goal on a 57-yarder by Jags kicker Josh Lambo. The 57-yarder was set-up but soft coverage by the Eagles defense on 3rd and 22. Allowing the Jaguars to get 17 yards back and put them into long field goal range.

But, the Eagles would go on their 2nd longest drive of the season and score. A 9-play, 95-yard drive was capped off by a Wendell Smallwood screen pass for a 36-yard touchdown. Eagles up 17-6. But, just like too many times this season, that score line would not last long.

Looking for a defensive stop after a score, the Eagles defense let the Jaguars drive right down the field for a touchdown. A huge problem for the Eagles defense this year is the next possession after a touchdown.

Then the Jaguars would add another field goal after another Eagles 3-and-out. But, this time it would be the Jaguars not being able to get a stop after points. The Eagles would score their 3rd touchdown of the day off a Zach Ertz 5-yard pass. Eagles up 24-15.

Eagles had a sloppy and sluggish start, but found their grove and won. But, the win didn't come without some key injuries to some Eagles.

Lane Johnson suffered a MCL strain in the 1st quarter. Jalen Mills suffered a non-contact foot injury in the 2nd quarter. Both key starters on an Eagles team already dealing with injuries.

The Philadelphia Eagles are off next week. Return home the following week on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys at the Linc.

The trade-deadline ends Tuesday, it will be interesting now to see what Howie Roseman does to improve this Eagles team.
