For the First Time In a Long Time, We Saw the Eagles Flat Out Fail
To me, NFL has always been the pinnacle of team sports. The NBA is so star studded, one player can greatly influence the outcome of a game. For God’s sake, Lebron scored 51 on the modern day Monstars and almost beat them in Game 1 of the NBA Finals by himself. In baseball, a shutdown performance by a pitcher can mask an anemic batting order. Unless your Jacob de Grom. Nothing can mask the misery that is the Mets. But, football, every unit has to work to win. Football is the ultimate chain reaction game, if one fails the whole team fails. On Sunday, every unit failed the Eagles.
What an absolute letdown. The Eagles have lost games these past two years but never like this. This wasn’t losing, this was failure. Last year, they ran into a hot Chiefs team on the road. They fell to a Seahawks team in desperation mode in a tough atmosphere. But this time, everyone needs to look in the mirror and consider how the hell we got to 2-2. Let’s do what we do best here and call some people out:
Secondary-
In overtime, the Eagles had the Titans offense in:
•4th & 15
•3rd & 17
•4th & 4
•4th & 2
They lost the game.
The only word to describe that performance is “failure”. The loss of Rodney McLeod immediately reared its ugly head. Not to be dramatic, but Corey Graham should be in prison for that 4th & 15 play. That was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen since Penn State ran the ball on 4th & 5. And then, we have this:
Avonte Maddox said he had never played safety until today. With Rodney McLeod out, #Eagles coaches came to him early in the week. Wasn't in centerfield a lot, but played a fair number of snaps there, especially on the final drive. Was in coverage on Corey Davis' game-winning TD.

On top of the mess at safety, I don’t want to be out on Jalen Mills. But, we may need to be out on Jalen Mills. I’ve had enough, put Sidney Jones where he belongs.
Wide Receivers-
Why is it that we can’t live in a world where Nelson Agholor and Markelle Fultz coexist as players in their respective sports? Fultz has one good game against a team from Australia, and Agholor resorts back to his 2016 self. We basically have to choose between Fultz being the third star on the Sixers or Agholor being the second best receiver on the Eagles. Makes for a solid ‘Would You Rather?’ though.
Offensive Line-
This dilemma is two-fold. Firstly, Carson Wentz does not have enough time to throw to his receivers. Secondly, despite the Eagles losing to the fucking Titans, they will still be good for a very long time. They will never be out of a game as long as they have Wentz. Which means, he has to stay healthy. Every time Wentz gets hit, an angel gets its wings ripped off and crumpled into pieces. Recently, Wentz has been getting hit A LOT. The Eagles are giving up 3.3 sacks per game. That would be good for 25th best in the league. That doesn’t even account for all the hits and hurried Wentz and Nick Foles have endured this year. This is pretty much how I feel every time Wentz drops back to pass:

There have been a lot of gut wrenching Eagles losses we have been alive for. Sunday against the Titans was so brutal, it was an all-timer for me.
