Le’Veon Bell To The Eagles Is Very Much Possible
The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in acquiring Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, according to a report from NFL insider Jason La Canfora.
“The Philadelphia Eagles are among the teams with interest in Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, league sources said, and while no trades are close or imminent, and there would be obstacles to overcome, Howie Roseman is among the more aggressive and creative general managers in the NFL.”
WHAT? THE EAGLES ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF THE LEAGUES BEST RUNNING BACKS?
Yes, you are reading that correctly. The Eagles, who have made more trades over the past 5 years than most teams have in their history, could possibly be in the mix for one of the leagues best running backs.
But, how could they possibly acquire someone of Bell’s quality without breaking the bank? Well, it is a little easier than you think. Here is how they can get it done.
According to a report from NFL insider, Ian Rapoport, the Steelers asking price for Bell is a 2nd round pick and a “good player”.

Now, this report is just a report. Other reports say the Steelers are seeking a defensive player in the deal. However, the clear back-bone to any deal is how the Steelers view an asset now over a future asset. Mainly, the player over draft pick or draft pick over the player. In the Eagles case, it would have to be a draft pick over the player.
If the Eagles could pull this off, it would have to come in the form of a higher draft pick and an average player. Any deal the Eagles offer would have to include their 1st round pick from next years draft. The Eagles have to compensate for not being able to give up a “good” defensive player.
But, what is considered a “good” defensive player?
The Eagles have some elite and average defenders. But, they also have some young promising players waiting to break-out. Could they possibly interest the Steelers?
Rasual Douglas, Sidney Jones, or even new safety Deiondre’ Hall all fit that category. All three are good players. However, all three are still young and not proven yet. But, could these players open up a starter to be traded?
Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby are both in need of a pay raise in the coming years. So does Eagles franchise quarterback Carson Wentz. With limited cap space, could the Eagles trade away one of their starting corners in need of a pay increase?
This is where the question enters. Do the Steelers value assets or players now? I would offer two deals..
Mills and 2nd for Bell
Douglas and 1st for Bell
Both deals have equal value. The only difference is the value of an asset now over later. If they take Mills deal, they will value the player over the pick. If they take the Douglas deal, they will value the pick over the player.
All of this is rumors, but wow. Just imagine what Le’Veon Bell could do behind the Eagles offensive line.
Do the thing Howie. Make the NFL your B***H again.
