Another week, another great set of interviews on the podcast, Pardon My Take. With the NBA preseason commencing, there’s a lot of interviews to be had with the top talent in the league. The guys at Pardon My Take sat down with “superstar”, Gordon Hayward and talked about his time with the Celtics. Come for them discussing the “daddy’s always happy” video, but stay for Hayward saying he hoped the Celtics lost when he first got injured.
“I don’t think you’d be human if there wasn’t a part of you that was like ‘I hope that we lose’…I got hurt, then we lost like two games and then went on a 18- or 19-game win streak and I was like laying in bed like “Come on! What’s going on?” But there was a part of me that was like, dude, they’re winning without me, what’s the deal?”
Just absolutely despicable and disgraceful if you ask me. I would venture to say this attitude was created by the “me first”, hidden agenda culture that Tom Brady, Alex Guerrero and the Patriots have. This losing culture has now rubbed off on other professional sports teams in Boston.
Obviously Hayward’s injury was insanely gruesome. One time I got blood work done and almost passed out. So, obviously I can relate to the trauma that comes with having your foot going the wrong way. I do feel for the guy. But, imagine Carson Wentz tearing his ACL and rooting against the Eagles to lose the Super Bowl. Obviously, that would never happen because Carson is a child of God and can do no wrong. Plus, he’s a natural born winner unlike the players on the Celtics roster. And, you know who this is really disrespectful to? The troops. You never saw any of the troops rooting for Al Qaeda, so this is clearly a jab at their ideals and morals.
The real key here is that this would never happen on the Sixers. Look at the way the Sixers rallied around Markelle Fultz. When Markelle came back from his mind telling him his shoulder was hurt, did TJ secretly root against him? No. He was the first guy to jump on Fultz when he got his triple double and celebrate. The Sixers locker room is a brotherhood. The Celtics locker room is a bunch of guys Danny Ainge “almost” put in a trade package for Anthony Davis.
First, Terry Rozier punches Joel Embiid, now this selfish act by Hayward. This Celtics team is completely out of control. They question has to be asked, has Brad Stevens lost the locker room? Just despicable.
