The Eagles Are a “Sleeper” Team That Could Land Le’Veon Bell According to One NFL Insider (Yes, You Are Reading That Right)

The Le’Veon Bell saga has been dragging on all through the summer and now through September. As of last week, the Steelers put their maligned running back on the trading block. Today, Jason La Canfora said the Eagles could be a “sleeper” team to land Bell.

“[This would be] the ultimate Howie Roseman move. Trade Nick Foles, get something back for him and then blammo, create cap space and money. Go to your owner and say ‘I’m going to turn Nick Foles into Le’Veon Bell, all you gotta do is pay him.’ Jay Ajayi is up at the end of the year anyway. They have no commitment to him. Sproles is banged up again. Do they really want to be going into games with Corey Clement and whatever else? That’s my sleeper team.”

Alright, this analysis may be a little biased because as a fantasy owner of Le’Veon Bell, I really fucking hate Le’Veon Bell.

Firstly, this is not a “Howie move” as La Canfora stated, this a move where you turn off salary cap on Madden. Turning Nick Foles into Le’Veon Bell does not work for so many reasons. There’s no real market for Foles as the 49ers are pretty much dead and have already invested in Jimmy G going forward. A one year rental of Foles is not saving them. Then, what do you do with Jay Ajayi this year? Trade him too?

Even if Howie did pull all that off with the same hypnosis used in that terrible Geico commercial, Leveon would not even step foot in Lincoln Financial Field. The whole reason that Bell is in this situation screwing my fantasy team in the first place is because he wants long term stability. He does not want to get hurt this year and have that interfere with his ability to get paychecks in the future. He won’t play a down for you unless you lock him up like the Bears did with Khalil Mack. The Eagles are on the cusp of having to pay Carson Wentz a gazillion dollars. Are you really going to commit boo koo bucks to a running back who’s back up (at one point) was your leading rusher in the Super Bowl?

And honestly, Le’Veon Bell is an asshole. I really love his game but this guy is truly out to destroy the “Steeler Way”. Bell has turned Pittsburgh into a bigger mess than the Wawa at Walnut/Locust at 2am on a Saturday night. The Eagles built not only a talented roster but a fantastic locker room balance. For some reason, a video of Bell in a strip club while his teammates are in training camp doesn’t scream “locker room guy” to me.

If the Steelers trade Le’Veon Bell, good for them. And me. Rex Burkhead, Giovani Bernard and Phillip Lindsay are not cutting it on the fantasy roster. Bell thinks the Steelers are fucking with his money but now he is fucking with my money. I put a whole $20 into this. I beg some schmuck of a GM to trade for him, I just pray it’s not Howie.
