Breaking… Carson Wentz Has Been Cleared For Contact. Will Start Week 3

Breaking… The “Ginger Jesus” and the leader of your Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles has been cleared for contact. Carson Wentz will now resume full team work-outs and practices.

On Tuesday, I reported the news of Wentz’s medical physical on Friday morning.

Today, Carson Wentz met with Eagles team doctors and officials, along with other medical officials. During this meeting, Wentz went through a physical and has been cleared for full contact activities. The clearance comes almost 9 months to the day of Wentz’s ACL surgery on December 13th.

Now, 9 months is on the early side of a full ACL surgery recovery time. But, this is a decision I do not think the Eagles would rush.

However, is this the right decision? Is it too soon?

Well, one current NFLer has proven rushing back from an ACL injury isn’t the greatest sometimes. That NFLer is fellow quarterback and former Eagle, Sam Bradford. Bradford tore his ACL in week 7 of the 2013 NFL season. Many people believed he would be back to start week 1 of the 2014 NFL season.

However, the Rams believed he was ready in training camp. Bradford sat out week 1 of the preseason. Then, Bradford started week 2 and played 4 series. But, Bradford would only last 3 series in week 3. During their 3rd preseason game, Bradford, just like when he tore his ACL the first time, re-tore his ACL on a very similar play. This was a little over 10 months removed from surgery.

With Wentz cleared, this now sets up the possibility for Wentz’s to start the Eagles week 3 matchup against the Colts next week. If Wentz does start week 3, it will be just over 9 months removed from his ACL surgery. A full month before Bradford came back just to re-tare his ACL the following week.

Now, all knee injuries are different and all recovery times vary depending on the person. However, to come back from a full ACL surgery in 9 months shows the tremendous drive and passion by Wentz.

If the Eagles can beat Tampa Bay on Sunday, Wentz can return to a 2-0 record. This will allow for the Eagles to ease Wentz back into game form in weeks 3 and 4 before the rematch showdown with the Vikings in week 5.

Wentz is back. Are you ready Philadelphia?
